The Amazon rainforest is the world's largest tropical rainforest. This forest is also known as Amazonia. It's surface area covers the world's second longest river basin, called the Amazon River. This ginormous rainforest is home to the largest variety of animals and plants. The Amazon covers 5,500,000 square kilometres of South America. This huge tropical rainforest is very beautiful and home to 10 million different types of organisms.
The Tropical biome is very hot and moist. It is close to the equator making it one of the warmest biomes on Earth.
